We made it to Friday without having to go to a laundromat, without eating out more than a couple times, and without a Complete and Total Breakdown.
The Breakdown will happen if I don't have a working well tomorrow (Saturday). Because I'm completely, absolutely, altogether done with camping at home.
I've been holding it together because I have a clear goal, which was running water by Friday evening and a shower in my own home. Well, it's quarter to five on Friday and they're still banging the pipe into the ground. They're hopeful, though, that they'll be hooking us up tomorrow sometime. My yard and garden will need reconstructive surgery when they're gone, but I feel I can address that issue with a strongly set jaw if I have running water, clean clothes, clean dishes, and a clean self. Maybe that's too much information? Too late, it's already put down.
In order to avoid the laundromat I did buy the kids two sets of PJs each yesterday. A friend said something about feeling like you have to wash your clothes after you return from the laundromat. I agree. And I hate the waiting and guarding your clothes I feel I have to do--which is doubly hard when there are kids in tow. My sister does it several times a week (she has a newborn) and I don't know how she does it. I guess, though, that if that's the biggest drag about having no water for a week we're doing all right. And we are doing all right. We have clean drinking water and a hose for flushing toilets (more TMI?) courtesy of our neighbors, and the kids had a bubble bath at a friend's house last night. It was very fun.
In knitting news, I believe I'm in love with Regia Bamboo. I've decided the first two pairs of socks are for Kevin (almost done), and I'll make Geoffrey two pairs as well. I also got enough to make Andrew a pair, and I rediscovered some mommy colors in my stash. I can't decide, though, if I want to knit up my STR sock club socks after Geoffrey's are finished and before I start more bamboo ones. I guess time and whim will tell!
A good friend watched the boys for us last night so Andrew and I could go have a couple hours of winding down. I finally met a lovely local woman, Julia, who has sheep (wool!), is a master gardener, and is getting into natural dyeing. Another friend has wanted us to meet and we finally met by chance at the Wine Cache. We also met another couple there, who I've been told I should meet regarding volunteering at The Works. The Works is one of my boys' favorite hangouts.
Here's a photo of the boys on Tuesday, in a model jaw of a Megalodon (the biggest shark that ever lived, but is now extinct). Yay! Kevin put on his sweater! We got lots of comments on the sweaters, and one lady asked where she could find one for her son. I believe I was beaming when I told her I made the sweaters! One of the week's highlights for sure!

Hey, I don't know if there's anything I can do to help, but if you're approaching the arena of Sheer Freak Out and me or my house could be of any use, just e-mail me. Here's hoping the water comes back on tomorrow!
